Tommy Hinson '21
Mike Campbell, number 18 on the field and starting QB on our Varsity Football team. As a freshman Mike played on our JV team. Sophomore year he played on JV then was placed on the varsity roster for the last two games of the season. Junior year Mike played on the varsity team completing 56% of his passes and passing for 2000 yards. He also had a total of 18 touchdowns for the season. Finally, his final year playing Mike injured his knee tearing his ACL. However, Mike started the season well with a historic win over Wise. I put together a little Q&A asking Mike about how his football career went and some highlights.

Q. How would you say last season went?
A. Last season went well. our team battled through some early adversity and earned third in the conference. We really came together as a team and had some memorable victories.

Q. What was your favorite game you played in your whole career at Calvert hall?
A. My favorite game in my Calvert Hall career was probably defeating McDonough last year on the road. after falling behind 14-0 early in the game, we battled back to take a 28-14 lead into halftime. We ended up winning 35-21. This game was memorable for me because we were an underdog coming into the game, and it took a lot of heart and character from our guys to battle back from 14-0 and 21-7 deficits in the first quarter.

Q. What was your favorite turkey bowl game?
A. My favorite Turkey Bowl was definitely last year because it was my first full varsity year, so it meant a lot to me as a junior to send off my seniors and friends on a high note. Coming into the game I wanted to do everything in my power to send our seniors off with a clean sweep of the dons, and we were successful in that.

Q. How did the season start this year?
A. The season started well. As part of four straight wins we had a historic victory over Wise High School, who had a 43 game winning streak coming into that game.

Q. If you can predict who will win the Turkey Bowl this year?
A. My prediction is of course Calvert Hall over Loyola. I believe we have a strong team this year and we will prove that in front of the big crowd on thanksgiving.
