The childish format and monologue that is laid out and presented by host Carl Azuz is rather unpopular among most students, as it seems as though it is made to target a younger audience. Even some teachers share this opinion, as it has been reported that a select few refuse to broadcast it in their homerooms altogether.
However, we exist in a partisan society where it is more important to stay informed than ever, and CNN 10 seems to offer the solution to that problem. Senior, Conner Dawson, a member of CHC TV, stated, “It's a tricky thing for the school to try and inform the students given the very partisan nature of politics these days. CNN 10 is the only news channel that offers news everyday during the school year, so it's the best we can do. I could live without Carl Azuz’s puns everyday though.”
CNN 10 also seems to offer a rather bipartisan overview of daily happenings, especially when compared to our previous program Channel One. Regardless of the justified dislike of the program and its format, it is important to remember the importance of staying informed, which the school very obviously wants us to be, and to keep an open mind when viewing the program each morning. However, this discontent illustrates the need for the school to develop a new way to broadcast news to the students, possibly through a student run news program with a format more suitable to Calvert Hall’s population.
